SPECIAL clamps for EBSD applications, tensile samples:
The special titanium EBSD clamps allow to switch easily between the 0° position for conventional observation and the 70° position for EBSD applications. Its special design delivers best resolution of diffracted patterns: Working distance: 10mm (depending on pole piece)
Sample-to-screen distance: 12mm (depending on EBSD detector)
STANDARD clamps, tensile samples:
These clamps are designed to be used with long flat sample with no holes. Therefore they are more bulky than the EBSD clamps and less relevant for EBSD observations.
Clamps for TINY tensile samples:
These clamps are designed to be used with tiny samples (14.5mm long to 25mm).
Clamps for flat butterfly sample, ARCAN shear test:
This unique set of clamps is specially designed for shear tests on butterfly samples. The geometry of the sample can be adapted to customer’s need.

Clamps for Cylindrical samples:
Special clamps for cylindrical samples. The samples are threaded on both sides. Each clamp has a counter nut to reduce mechanical slack.
3- and 4-point bending clamps allows to image the ‘edge-on’ of the sample, either during conventional observation (0° tilt of the sample), or during EBSD observation (70° tilt of the sample). The dimensions and space between the grips can be adapted to your need. The total travel distance goes up to 5mm. It comes with a protection plate that protects the pole piece and EBSD detector if/when brittle samples brake.
Biaxial testing generates more precise simulations of real-world stress states. Therefore MicroMecha developed the first biaxial clamps which are also EBSD compatible, allowing complex multiaxial stress simulations. Specimens are typically cruciform. The travel distance on each side of the sample goes up to 5mm.
Specific clamps for heating applications. They can be cooled down thanks to a set of miniature fluid inlet/outlet connectors (perfectly hermetic) and tubes. Ceramic parts are used to insulate the sample from the metallic parts as well as to apply the load. These clamps can also be tilted at 70° for EBSD observations.
They can be used both in conjunction with the heating system as well as the cryogenic cooling system.
